Seventh Reflection On Micreo Teaching Class

This time I want to see my second performance on micro teaching class as the final test. The skill that I taught was speaking for vocational school students.

The second performance was better than the first. I  managed the time well and material was understandable. There were no lecturer at that time.   Even though there was no lecturer , the class was going well. All friends  in micro teaching class were really cooperative to help me in doing my class teaching. They willingly became my students.

In this second class teaching, I still had some weaknesses such as, unclear instruction which made the students confused,  did not really serious in teaching, etc.  I also  received some comments from the observers which motivated me to be better.  Well, from the comments and the experiences that I had I could learn how to be a good teacher.

Sixth Reflection On Mocro Teaching Class

In this reflection I would like to evaluate my first performance on class teaching as the first midterm test. The skill that I taught was listening. The topic was about narrative. At that time, I got difficult to find the listening passage which appropriate to the level of senior high school student. I tried to search the passage on the internet and I got it in storynory.com which consists of a lot of stories for kids. I took one of the stories which titled Valentine.

I though that was an interesting story and appropriate to senior high school student. When I was teaching, at the beginning of the class the students were very enthusiast to answer my question which was related to valentine day but when I was playing the recording, I saw the students were getting bored. some of them said that the story was too long. It was my mistake because I played the recording three times which really made them bored.

At the end of the class, I received so many comments from the lecturer and also from the observers.  From the comments, I knew that there were many weaknesses that I had in my class teaching. Most of the comments were about the difficulty of the material and some others were about the time management. Yeah..that time I focussed on discussing the exercise without looking at the time. Whe n the time is up  I had not done  the set clousure and I had to stop my lesson.

To tell the truth, I was a little bit disappointed but it did not make me down. i could learn from my experience to improve my teaching skills. I also realize that as a beginner teacher I should learn more and more so that I can perform better.

Fifth Reflection on Micro Teaching Class

In week five   especially on Thursday I saw two  of my classmates performed  their class teaching.  I did not see the two performers on Tuesday because I did not attend the class on that day. On Thursday I could learn so many things from my friend such as the approach and the method that they used in their teaching.

The first teacher on that they taught reading for first grade of senior high school student but the material was not appropriate for the level of  the student. It was too difficult for senior high school student even for us I think. The instruction was not clear also. At the beginning, he told that we were going to learn about retell a story then I though he would teach us speaking skill but his main goal was teach reading.

The second teacher at that time was better than the first. She taught writing a recount text. She gave us clear instruction and some good examples that helped the students to understand well about recount text. She behaved as a teacher and her teaching style was interesting. I think this is a good example and I could learn from her to help me perform better in teching.

Forth Reflection on Micro Teaching Class

In the forth week of our micro teaching class, there were some of my classmates who practiced their group teaching. I could  learn from them how to be a good teacher. What I learned here was not exactly from their teaching  but from the comment that given by Pak Prast and from the students who observed my classmates’ performances at that time. Some important things that I could learn during the forth week were: how to  behave as a teacher in front of the class, how to interact with the students during teaching-learning process, how to maintain my  voice when I am teaching.

Why I mention those three things as the important things that I have to learn? If I noticed from my friends’ performances, those three important aspects were not really  be paid attention to.  From our group  practicing teaching I realize that there are so many things that we as beginning teachers should improve. Such as those three things that I mentioned before, how to show the focus of our teaching material, how to attract students’ attention, etc.

From the group teaching that I noticed, sometimes there was no clear instruction, whereas  clear instruction helped the student to understand the lesson and participate more on it. Beside that, the material also to high for the level of student that they chose to teach. Those all the things that I noticed from the group teaching. From the weaknesses that we had during the group teaching, I realize that I  myself should learn more and improve my teaching skill.

Third Reflection on Micro teaching Class

In the third week we are divided into two big groups. In this groups every student of the group should has the chance to teach her or his friend in the group. During this week, I learn two things. First, I learn how to be an observer and how to teach English for Junior High school students.

As an observer, I learn how to observe my friends’ performances  and give comment on them. From my experience, being an observer is not really easy because I have to really pay attention when they are performing so that I can give the right comment to help them to improve their teaching skills. While observing my friends, I also learn from them such as their teaching styles event though they still need to improve some aspects. At least I  have learned from them how to stand  in front of the class as a teacher.

When the time for me to perform as a teacher in front of my friends, I feel little nervous. It is not because I do not prepare myself but it is the first time for me to teach. Anyway, although I still need to improve my teaching style, I am very grateful because I have had an experience in teaching. I also thank to my friend who help me by giving  me comment on my performance.  I hope next time I can perform better.

Reflection On The Second Week Of Micro Teaching Class

In the second week I Learned how to be an English teacher through peer teaching. I chose to teach grammar for first grade of junior high school student. In the begining I felt little nervous because I was afraid of making mistake. But when I tried to teach, I could enjoy it and teach the student as well as I could.

I realize that my performance at that time was not really good because there were some mistakes that I did. For example, there was no lesson plan, no media, and handout. I chose to teach first grade of Junior high school student but did not really use the language of their level. I treated my student as if she were a third grade of senior high school student. That was why I got many qustions from my student because she did not really understand my explanation.

After teaching, I got some comments from my partner and general comments from the lecturer which help me to improve my teaching skills. My partner comments on my first performance really helped me to be better in teaching. I also learned from my first performance to be more creative in teaching such as how to give an intersting example, how to attract student’s attention when they get borred and how to treat the student and use the language based on their level.

Reflection On The First Meeting Of Micro Teaching Class

First of all, I want to say that being a teacher is not as easy as I imagine before and I myself have never been a teacher even to teach a playgroup student. Therefore, when I came to micro teaching class, there were a lot of feelings that came into my mind. I felt very nervous. During the class, I always thought that being a teacher is hard but I have to.

When I saw the lecturer who taught us enthusiastically, it seems easy to be a teacher. But when I heard the word teach itself, I felt so scare. Why? Because I thought about standing in front of many students and many couples of eyes will watch me. But I tried to make it easy and joined the class patiently. Even though being a teacher is not easy, I have to train myself by practicing. I believe that people who can teach well also felt the same as what I felt at the first time. The only one thing that I can do to reduce my confusion is be brief and keep practicing

In the first meeting of this class, I learned about “Who is a good teacher and how to be a good teacher”. I also learned how to open and close a meeting in a class when I become a teacher. As a teacher candidate, I have to be creative, confident, patient, and so many others. To have those characteristics, I have to practice more and encourage myself to love teaching.

During this first meeting, I also learned from my lecturer and some friends who shared their experiences how to handle some difficulties that most teachers found in a class. From their experiences, I could conclude that whatever the situation that a teacher find in a class can be solved depend on how creative the teacher himself. So to be a good teacher, I have to be a creative person first and practice more in teaching and solving the problem.

PERSONAL REFLECTION ON LANGUAGE TEACHING MEDIA CLASS

First of all I want to say that Language Teaching Media is a very interesting class. Through this class I know that there are many medias which a teacher can use to teach language. I also learn how to develop material that I want to teach using those medias.
As a teacher candidate, I am helped to know how to tech English using any kinds of media starting from the very abstract to the real one. This class also helps to be a creative teacher. I learn how to gain students’ attention, how to make appropriate exercises for the students. During this class I also learn how to provide feedback for the students based on the exercise that I give.
I also realize that there were some difficulties that I found during this class. I got confuse when we were asked to develop listening material using sound track, movie maker and Microsoft publisher. I tried hard to learn it and asked my friend to help me so that I could solve them.
